Challenge:

MUVE Health, LLC, company specializing in total joint replacements under bundled contracts was to open its first facility in Austin Texas. Due to constraints from physician non-competes, there was a small geographical area, with limited real estate opportunities, available for the facility.

 

As the representative for MUVE, Astoria was able to locate a site, negotiate a build to suit lease, and oversee the design and construction of the facility. The facility was opened in March 2017.

Facility:
  • A hyper- specialized joint replacement facility consisting of:

  • Ambulatory Surgery Center with two operating rooms

  • Six Guest Suites

Project Details:

Astoria Healthcare Properties (AHP), managed the design and construction of a 2 operating room micro specialty orthopedic ambulatory surgery center, and a 6 room Guest Suites (a non-medical lodging facility) for MUVE Health, LLC. MUVE is a cutting edge program for total joint replacement in an outpatient setting.

 

MUVE provides very high-quality care in a bundled payment methodology. Their proprietary protocol-driven care model covers pre-consultation prior to surgery, the surgical episode, and the recovery process. The result is total joint replacements at a much lower cost, with significantly better outcomes and higher patient satisfaction.

The Guest Suites provide a residence close to the ASC, where guests, once fully discharged from their surgical procedure, may relax and safely ambulate for 24-72 hours while receiving in-home health services and physical therapy in a high-end hotel setting.  

One of the challenges was a very large non-compete area which encompassed most of the metropolitan region.  As more and more companies and individuals move into Austin, available commercial real estate in desirable areas is extremely difficult to find. Astoria worked through a number of issues between landlord/developer and tenant and ensured a smooth process with successful completion for all parties.
